Rest As Responsibility Under the Full Moon in Capricorn
On Wednesday, July 13th, at 2:37 PM EST, the light of the sun will shine fully upon the heavenly body which governs our unconscious, the moon, in the sign of Capricorn.
The moon is considered to be in detriment in Capricorn, the opposite sign of Cancer, where the moon feels most at home. Along with Pluto's presence, this full moon can bring discomfort.
On June 21st the sun moved into Cancer and initiated the longest day of the year in the north. Since then, the light has centered around nurturing loved ones, fertility and new growth.
At this full moon we may experience dissonance between a pressure, burden or responsibility and the body's needs for time off, solitude and self-care.
This moon-sun opposition occurs in the third decan of their respective signs which, in the words of astrologer Austin Coppock, is about "having enough of something and not wanting any more of it."
We might consider what new life Cancer season has brought us so far, and how practicing boundaries, gratitude, patience and proper rest can help us to sustain the relationships that matter most.
Capricorn knows to take the long-term perspective as opposed to getting caught up in momentary feelings. Ruled by Saturn, the planet of endings, Capricorn reminds us that nothing lasts forever.
This full moon invites us to recognize rest as a responsibility, transcend time by choosing to live in the moment, and look up and outside of ourselves at the gifts the universe is always handing to us.
