Go with the Flow ~ Sun in Gemini and Eclipse Season

by Ashley Matthews

‘’In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.’’ ~ Thomas Jefferson

The sun begins its annual tour through competent and mercurial Gemini this afternoon at 3:37 ET, joining Mercury, Venus and Jupiter in mutable signs through the end of May. The word ‘’mutable’’ stems from the late 14c. Latin ‘’mutabilis’’ meaning ‘’liable to change.’’

Individuals born with planets in mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) are especially aware that an ephemeral or changing reality, be it thoughts, words, actions, habits, character, destiny, etc., is one we should learn to embrace for we cannot take anything in the material world with us.

Expansive Jupiter in watery Pisces makes a challenging aspects, or square, to the sun in Gemini through May 26, inviting our longings, sentiments and emotions to inform our rational decision-making processes, initiate conversations and inspire new avenues for thinking, learning and teaching.

A quality of curiosity is in the air now through June 21. Allow your mind to change, as well as space and freedom from the "believed right way" of doing things. Important questions for everyone to ask themselves while the sun is in Gemini, especially for natives born under a mutable sign, include:

Who or what in my life causes me to feel like I am swimming upstream?

When and where do I experience my right to mental clarity?

How can I let go and go with the flow?

Offering possible answers to these questions are two eclipses in Sagittarius and Gemini on 5/26 and 6/10. Events on or around these dates may help to reveal social or personal narratives that might be preventing us from reclaiming our right to making free, aware and informed choices in our lives.

Maintaining an investigative and open mind is paramount when examining our outdated thoughts so that we can avoid becoming stuck in judgement, negativity or fault-finding. Below are a few healing affirmations for this particular eclipse cycle, inspired by Jan Spiller's book, "Astrology for the Soul":

It is okay for me to adopt an "I don't know" mindset, and ask questions when I don't understand.

I can be willing to pause, listen and learn about things I would not tend to agree with.

I can slow down and take the time to connect with others.

If you are aware of the houses that the Gemini and Sagittarius axis occupies in your birth chart, you may choose to use that information to further examine how and where you might create more balance between the logical/ intuitive, proven/ mythic and social/ individual parts or aspects of your life.
