☽ Freedom to Choose at The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius ♐︎

On May Fifth of last year, the evolutionary south node of the moon moved into purpose-driven Sagittarius, and the reality of the pandemic slowly began to settle into the collective consciousness. You may have noticed where there became wiggle-room around an outdated way of thinking or doing something, allowing you to see things more clearly.

We are now one third of the way through our current eclipse cycle in Gemini and Sagittarius, encouraging us develop an awareness around our tell-tale and time-tested beliefs. Eclipses occur in 18-month cycles, approximately every six months at new and full moons, when the moon’s nodal axis intersects the ecliptic, or the sun’s celestial journey.

During a full moon eclipse, like the one peaking Wednesday, May 26th at 7:15 AM EST, the light of the sun becomes obscured or blocked, creating a portal or channel for radical shift, evolutionary insight and a burst (or depletion) of energy. Due to the absence of life-giving light, eclipses are opportunities for rest, reflection and letting go.

Before, during and a few days after an eclipse, pay special attention to your physical, energetic and psychic health. This south node eclipse is a great time to say "no" to what doesn’t nourish you. You may find it helpful to think back to December 14, 2020, which was the correlating last new moon eclipse in Sagittarius. How far have you come since then, and what may it be time to release?

Sagittarius represents the Archer who is free to aim their energy in any direction they choose. At its highest function, Sagittarius is driven by a pure heart's desire, manifesting as purposeful, insightful and adventurous. At its lowest, Sagittarius operates on fear-based narratives that can create distance, self-righteousness and dismissiveness.

To our benefit, governing planet Jupiter in heart-centered Pisces offers us support as to where to aim our energy at this full moon eclipse. The largest and most benevolent planet in our solar system, Jupiter currently offers us a transcendent look at our lives, assuring forward movement only if our desires are aimed at a higher purpose or spiritual goal.

If you are aware of which house Sagittarius rules in your birth chart, take a look when considering in what area of your life an outdated thought pattern is keeping you from seeing clearly and pursuing your highest Truth. At this full moon eclipse you may inquire how the following tendencies can create blockages in your own life:

  • running on old belief systems based on unexamined thoughts

  • being aloof to what others have to offer through their words

  • fear-based ideas about death, control and desire

  • having tunnel vision around one’s own beliefs

  • pursuing only one idea of “Truth”

  • the need to be right

Those born with planets on or around five degrees of any of the mutable signs (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini and Virgo) may especially feel the effects of this particular eclipse cycle, as might those born with the south node in Sagittarius signature:

December 14, 1945 — August 2, 1947

August 26, 1964 — February 19, 1967

March 17, 1983 — Sept 11, 1984

October 13, 2001 — April 13, 2003

May 5, 2020 — January 18, 2022

The final three eclipses in this 18-month cycle occur on June 10, November 19 and December 4, 2021. These eclipse dates may help to further the story by offering insights, inspiring complexity and removing obstacles that open mental pathways toward freedom to choose our own destiny.
