Follow your bliss during the Pisces Lunar Eclipse
& enjoy the start of a new eclipse cycle that centers rest, imagination and art
Full moon eclipse
This is the first eclipse in a new cycle that will unfold along the VIRGO/ PISCES axis until early 2027. It will peak on Tuesday, September 17th at 10:30 PM EST.
Virgo/ pisces axis
Over the course of this eclipse cycle we will collectively explore the Virgo/ Pisces relationship between control and surrender; work and rest; details and the big picture; analytics and daydreams; reality and imagination; following directions and creative freedom; form and abstract; visible and invisible; physical health and spiritual health; left brain and right brain; and logic and art.
Eclipse cycles
Eclipse cycles reoccur approximately every 18 years. Eclipses take place near the lunar nodes, although the nodes are still in Aries and Libra right now. They’ll move into Pisces and Virgo in January 2025.
The last eclipse cycle in Virgo-Pisces was March 2006 to February 2008, the previous one was September 1987 to August 1989 and the one before that was March 1969 to February 1971. We may see themes from those times reoccur during this eclipse cycle.
The lunar nodes
Because the north node will be in Pisces throughout this eclipse cycle, we are invited to practice more leisure, art, daydreaming, fantasizing, time alone, rest, and spiritual pursuits (think meditation, yoga, reiki, poetry, etc.). And because the south node will be in Virgo throughout this eclipse cycle, we are asked to release anxiety-producing thoughts that negatively impact our physical health. This will be a period of time with less mental pressure to be “right” and more opportunities to experience the exactitude of our intuitive knowing.
Who is affected?
If you have any personal planets (especially the sun or moon) in the mutable signs of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius, you may experience the effects of this eclipse more strongly than others. If you are aware of your birth chart, look to which houses VIRGO and PISCES occupy in order to see in which areas of life these eclipses will show up for you personally.
This particular full moon eclipse
This moon has the flavor of looking at things retrospectively and examining to whom or what we have devoted our heart’s blood over the last six months (since the Pisces new moon on March 10th). Celebrate what you have accomplished over the past six months, and choose to release a thought that is no longer serving you as you prepare to share all you have learned.
Recommendations under this full moon
Don’t allow big, overwhelming feelings to get in the way of seeing things for the way they truly are. Look at the facts and stay in touch with reality, because under this full moon it can be easy to become lost in the fantasy, or the “story.” Practice letting your intuition guide you from a physical place. Follow your “gut” feeling. Turn in the direction the body points. Jupiter, the ruler of this full moon in Pisces, is currently in Gemini and says, “I can stand back and see the bigger picture here. I can hold space for many differing truths at once.”
