The Extraordinariness of this Moment

This morning I hear the ocean pounding against the shore

The woodpeckers searching for breakfast from within the trees

The distant sound of a loud truck horn from backing up

And silence again

Birds chirp wildly as if in a tropical rainforest

The cool, sea-foamy aftermath in the air from last night’s rain fills my lungs

These quiet moments as I sip my coffee on the porch in the sun

This is what matters

This is what counts.
