The Extraordinariness of this Moment

A poem by Ashley during COVID

Today I hear the ocean pounding against the shore

The woodpeckers searching for breakfast from within the trees

The loud truck horn backing up

And stillness again

Birds chirping wildly as if in a tropical rainforest

The cool, sea-foamy aftermath in the air from last night’s rain

These quiet moments as I sip my coffee on the porch in the sun

This is what matters This is what counts.
