Taking a Deep Breath in Unsure Times

I just finished listening to a podcast wherein Joe Rogan (former Fear Factor Host) sat down with Michael Osterholm, an internationally recognized expert in infectious disease epidemiology, to discuss infectious diseases and the Coronavirus.

 

During this 90-minute, highly informative podcast I learned that COVID-19 is an air-transmitted virus. This means that although hand-washing and avoiding touching our faces can be helpful, these practices are not solely what will protect us.

 

Although we wish we could wake up tomorrow and it would be all better, my highly intuitive friends, my astrological insight, and scientific researchers tell us that this virus is certainly not one we see “going away” any time soon. In fact, the virus is doubling every four days, and you do not need to be symptomatic to carry the Coronavirus.

 

In these times of real fear we have one of two options: We can add more fear and hype to the equation, or get the facts and turn inward. Those of you who know me personally are aware that my nature is to be positive and realistic, and in this situation I will remain steadfast to those parts of who I am.

That said, this virus already is and will continue to be a big wake-up call to the world that it is time to finally look inward for the answers we seek.

 

For so long in the west we have been conditioned to seek happiness and security outside ourselves in the form of money and status. This, in turn, has caused us to run our natural environmental resources dry as well as damage our collective psyche in that it has slowly pushed us farther away from believing that there is any hope for finding clarity, guidance and peace from within.

In our unprepared state of no vaccines and the inability to quickly mass-produce effective forms of prevention, we are now understanding albeit painfully that we cannot rely on others for guidance. We have no choice but to trust in ourselves to know the way and to do the right thing, and maybe in the process we will remember that we already have more answers and peace than we ever knew we needed.

 

Fear is a real thing and I must admit I have been faced with it myself especially in the last few days. In tandem with sanitary precautions I am highly recommending we all get into the open air as much as we can and most importantly do our best to eliminate negative stressors in our lives, be it people, jobs, or thoughts.
