If you don't fight with life, life simply helps you...

June 17, 2019

Lately in my private and group yoga classes I have emphasized our duty as humans to show up halfway in life, so that we give life room to meet us the other half of the way.

Showing up halfway means to practice alignment of body, mind and spirit so that divinity/ source/ light/ God/ aliveness may shine through you, as you.

Since the Industrial Revolution we have been conditioned toward the "production" mindset, where if you're not working, you're not worthy.

However, this mindset can block us off to the flow that awaits us if we are to cease pressing forth on matters that perhaps are begging us for a bit of room to work their own magic.

The practice of alignment involves Patanjali's eight limbs of yoga, or the yamas (right actions toward others), niyamas (right actions toward oneself), asana (yoga postures), pranayama (deep breathing), pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana (focusing the mind), dhyana (continuous steadying of the mind, or meditation), and samadhi (taking time to dwell in one's divinity).

When I am more frequently able to bring myself into alignment using these yogic practices, I am never disappointed in life's ability to provide answers to my unresolved questions.
